Biggest Brightest Moon of 2010

I took this picture last night of the moon. I had a friend send me a link about the moon and it was really neat to see how bright it was. I did copy some of the explanation of why its the biggest moon of the year.

Friday's full moon was the biggest and brightest full moon of the year, offering those with clear skies an opportunity to identify easy-to-see features on the moon.
This being the first full moon of 2010, it is also known as the wolf moon, a moniker dating back to Native American culture and the notion that hungry wolves howled at the full moon on cold winter nights.
But why was this moon be bigger than others? Here's how the moon works:

The moon is, on average, 238,855 miles (384,400 km) from Earth. The moon's orbit around Earth — which causes it to go through all its phases once every 29.5 days — is not a perfect circle, but rather an ellipse. One side of the orbit is 31,070 miles (50,000 km) closer than the other.
So in each orbit, the moon reaches this closest point to us, called perigee. Once or twice a year, perigee coincides with a full moon, as it will tonight, making the moon bigger and brighter than any other full moons during the year.
On Jan. 29, the moon was about 14 percent wider and 30 percent brighter than lesser full moons of the year, according to Spaceweather.com.
As a bonus, Mars was right next to the moon on Friday. Skywatchers may have seen the reddish, star-like object.
Full moon craziness Many people think full moons cause strange behavior among animals and even humans. In fact several studies over the years have tried to tie lunar phases to births, heart attacks, deaths, suicides, violence, psychiatric hospital admissions and epileptic seizures, and more. Connections have been inclusive or nonexistent.
The moon does have some odd effects on our planet, and there are oodles of other amazing moon facts and misconceptions:
A full moon at perigee also brings higher ocean tides. This tug of the moon on Earth also creates tides in the planet's crust, not just in the oceans.
Beaches are more polluted during full moon, owing to the higher tides.
In reality, there's no such thing as a full moon. The full moon occurs when the sun, Earth and the moon are all lined up, almost. If they're perfectly aligned, Earth casts a shadow on the moon and there's a total lunar eclipse. So during what we call a full moon, the moon's face is actually slightly less than 100 percent illuminated.

A Boy OH I mean a Man and his Toys!

David has been all week trying to get the garage more organized. He has done a great job. He has all his toys to get organized. He has added a new one to the clan. A riding Lawn Mower.
About two weeks ago Dave mowed the back lawn. He came in and sat on the couch and said he was pooped. I asked him if he was going to get the front done. He said no way not today. He just sat and ended up watching the Cardinals game and by the way we lost to the Saints. But I said the the back was not as big as the front why are you so tired. He just said its big Pam I'm going to get a riding lawn mower. Hmmm wow I thought. He did say that he had the lawn mower down really low that he should have moved it up a bit.

So during the week we had a lot of rain and I decided that I would mow the front lawn between the breaks of the rain we were having. So I got the lawn mower out and did the first round of it. Well OK it was tuff. I ended up shortening how much of the lawn need to be mowed, seriously it was dead grass anyways but seriously it was kicking my butt! I got a really good work out for sure. I did finish I might say! And I did text David saying that we are getting a riding lawn mower thee end! And now we have one. I'm sure when Jaren comes home he will really appreciate this new device.

Work Dinner

We had a meeting in Phoenix and its with the ATMA Arizona Tooling Manufacturing of Arizona. Its a organization that you get to net work with other business's in the area. David had signed up for that night to display the business. I just love to watch Dave and Jory talking to other business men about the company. They well Dave always does good. He is so used to it. But Jory does a great job as well. He has learned a lot from his dad.

After an hour of meeting with others we had a dinner to attend. It was a bit boring. They had one speaker I know that took to much time. I got really bored and starting texting Jory, Brittney, and Janica. I did have it on vibrate. But the dinner part was really nice. I'm really proud of my men! And David got a really good contact out of this meeting as well.

Jory's Destress Time

I was at work with the other day and I asked Jory what time
school was or him and he said like 5:45 and then he headed out
the door and said let me know when its 4:30. So I went out to the
back of the shop and found him doing this. He said its his distressing time
before he heads to school!

His Father in-law made this for him. He is so into roping. I'm glad he has fun doing it

Baby Clothes

Yep I have started to buy my Baby Harmon Boy some clothes! This is fun!! Jaylyn found a outfit this past weekend as well. I need to be careful she won't need a baby shower if I just keep buying what I like. But this is fun for a Grandma to do!! I did tell Jaylyn that I would start buying some diapers. Seriously that is what she will need the most! BUT clothes are sooo fun to look at!

Time Alone

This is my new bath tub!!! Last week we had the whole week of winter weather rain!! I love it when it rains. Cloudy days..... Well I was cold so I thought that I could warm my self up with a hot bath!! Now Janica has tried my tub out and loved it, David had tried it and said it was soo nice to be in a tub that big. Our house in Tempe had a Jacuzzi tub but was not this nice or this big.

So I filled it up put some warm water with soothing sea salt minerals and just relaxed in the jacuzzi tub! WOW it was fun. I don't ever do this at all! I shower all the time. I believe there is going to be some more alone time with my tub!

Eating Healthy

My Friend Cheryl wants to lose some weight like so many million of other people in America! She looks great I might say, but hey I'm one of those people as well I suppose! But really we just want to be healthy and loose a bit if we can. So she is doing this diet eating grains with her meals. I believe she was doing it with all three meals. Yes she has lost some weight, but I decided I would try it and then have David try it as well. I'm just trying to ween my self off of the Holiday chocolate frenzy that I have got my self in. When you start you can't stop. I love chocolate!

Here is the finished product! It looks weird but its good.

I had to buy a rice cooker. Never had one and its fun to have. It will also steam other food as your rice cooks to. Two for the price of one!

Here are my grains. Wild Rice, Millet, Barley, Wild Berries Wheat. And It was surprising it was not expensive at all. I went to sprouts to get the grains.

Then I made homemade salsa
Here is the final process. You can top the grains with homemade Salsa, Hummus, Tabouli Salad, then you can also make a sweet taste out of it as well with warm milk poured over it with Cinnamon and sugar. I will tell you that if you are a constipated person this will flush you out!!!

Explanation of the Blue Moon

OK so David had a chance to read my blog and he once again explained the reason for the Blue Moon. He said that it only happens like every 10 years as to when you have a full moon in the same month twice. So the month of December we had two full moons. So when you have the second full moon like we did at that the end of December its called Blue Moon. How cool to learn something and I actually listened this time.

Blue Moon

I believe right after New Years we had the moon shine sooo brightly. It was really fantastic to see. I have no idea why it was called Blue Moon?? I think David told me cause it was so bright before we went out on New Years Eve and I payed such good attention that I have forgotten what he said. But one night when Dave and Cam was working in the garage on our entertainment center I decided to go outside to take some pictures and play with my camera and see what I could get. They look cool to me. But in reality to see it in person the moon was magnificent.

Winter Storm

Here in AZ when the weather man says a winter storm is a coming well we all just get soo excited! Rain is what we get. If you live in the mountains its snow. These pictures were taken just before Christmas and we were only in our house for just a week. Rain is what we look so forward to and I really love to see the clouds come in. Its a change from the wonderful sunshine that we have a lot all year long. So the weather newscaster's just really dramatize the weather and we just go nuts as to what is coming. Well it is cool if you live in the mountains to know if snow is on its way!

This picture was taken after the rain came in. It was beautiful. This is in front of our house. What is so weird is that you would see these trees in September or October if you lived in a four season state. Like Utah. But its December here in Arizona

I wanted to see what the house looked like after the rain. OK its a new place, looks like any other house after the rain.

The pool after the rain
This is going down our street on Fairview. It was raining really hard, but you really can't tell

This is heading East on Pecos at Gilbert Rd. Like I said we get really excited to see rain and how different the rain hits in different places
This is on Cooper Rd heading south to Warner. The wind was blowing hard.

Christmas Pic's

I finally have my Internet back!!! Yahoo! I was using a little notebook computer that David got when he upgraded his blackberry and we use Verizon minutes with it. So I was using it very frequently! But apparently we live in no mans land to not have cox, Qwest, so on and so on.... Dave was setting up the modem for Qwest DSL and it would not work. So we had to have a technician come out from Qwest and the man that came just sort of laughed at me. Um I know this street really well and you don't get DSL!! What no Internet!!!! He was laughing at me. I did not find it funny at all. Well it could have been because I had a blue curler in my hair for my bangs..... But he said that Qwest is to chicken to tell people that its not out here yet. And it probably won't for some time. We get Direct TV cable...so why not Internet???? Well I talked with a technician yesterday who installed the the wireless broadband in our house and said that Cox won't spend the money to upgrade in this area. It is apparently very big bucks to do so. AND Cox won't be out here any ways because Qwest has the contract! WOW I learned stuff. But I found these pic's that I wanted to post with Christmas and I decided to put them up!! Its just the first of January...

But these were so cute. No one will ever guess who Santa is!!! Through out the night he took on a southern accent!! Mind you his mother in the pic is from England!! Ha Santa was funny and it was a fun night at the Szentendrei home. It was a Christmas Eve Party and it was nice to be invited.

This was Jaylyn's and Jacob's tree in the Apt. It was nice to have seen a little bit of Christmas before we moved!

This was Jory's and Brittney's first Christmas together!!! Ya their tree was soooo cute!! They spent Christmas with her family in Utah while next yr with the Wright's when its Jaren's first Christmas from his mission.
