SePtEmBeR LaKePoWeLL With The RoSkeLLeY's

Heyyyy Youuu Guyssss

It was a Roskelley family trip that ended our stay at Lake Powell for the summer. I have decided that I want to do more trips in September next year. It was wonderful weather. We chose the week after Labor Day Weekend. Not a lot of people. We were able to find our favorite camping spot up Padre Canyon. We have been there all summer with our trips. And it was the very spot that we got that we had with my family three yrs ago. That was our last time we did Lake Powell. My brother Jeff was not able to make it due to work, and my sister Gail was not able to make it as well. But we had fun with those that could. David counted up how many times we have been this summer. It was 6 times. WOW it really did not seem that much. WE just love the water and playing there. So I hope that next yr we can make it again with my family. Also I bought the movie The Goonies. I have never seen this movie all the way through. Actually my kids have seen it and for some reason it seemed scary to me!!! Well its not. It was a good movie!! A classic I might say!!

This is Antelope Point Marina, we love to go there and eat dinner!!

We are going to show the family how big some of those house boats are!! Love our poses??

We are all so intrigued with Brandon's capoeira stuff that he does, he was doing a few moves on the dock!!

Dave and Cam love those guys!

Brandon, Heather, Dave, Suzanne what a beautiful sunset to see

Brandon is so cute as to poise as the Lake Powell tourist

Tawni was so good as to amuse us in her swimming skills she preformed for us, she was a little apprehensive but did really good. She can swim fast to get it done!

Cam is so gentle with her

Dave and Brandon getting ready to jump off another cliff we found

This was such a nice day to be a Rainbow Bridge, it was a shady walk up and a beautiful day as well.

Dave and I are sharing his ipod tunes. Ok his hand really is not that big either!!

We had lunch up a canyon that is called Twilight Canyon, we have named it Dave's drive in. That's where we go to have lunch. But further up we did some exploring and found this little neat spot. Its so different when the water is up. and it came up a lot this year as well.

Dave had some butterflies in his tummy when he jumped, HA HA, maybe that's why his hair flew up when he jumped!!

This is one thing that David worries about when we are out boating. When the water comes up it covers a lot of the rocks in the middle of the lake. Well when it comes down, this is what you see. If those boys were to step off the edge of what they were standing on it would end up being 50 to 100 feet deep. Freaky huh..

Cam, Brandon upside down, and David. That was so funny to see.

Apt Living

Apartment living you got to love it!! Ha ha!! Well I'm only writing this post as to remember our journey in to moving. Its not all that bad as to what I thought it might be like, but then its not all that glamorous as well. It suits our needs at the moment. The new ward is very nice. So much bigger than our Peterson Park ward. So many kids! A much younger ward. Just up the street from us is the Dental and Medical School. In fact it's the school that Jacob would like to get into for dental school. But the ward is soo friendly and very welcoming. Its just so very different for me to be on the other end of being new. I have only been in one ward living in Arizona for 25 yrs. So this is just so new to me. David still acts like he is a bishop and goes and introduces himself and me. Not that its wrong but he is better at it then me. We have already had the Relief Society come and visit. We had some home teachers come yesterday, but David was not here. They had a party last Sunday evening to welcome the new people into the ward for he last 12 months. It was fun to meet new people. And its so funny that we know some people here in the ward that used to be in the old Tempe 3rd ward/ Petersen Park Ward. Jane Raley and her husband Richard, and (Merrill) and Mary Jordon. They were the Tempe 3rd ward members. Then Tom and Devon Webb was the Peterson Park Ward. Tom was one of Jaren's Young Men leaders. A small world. So its fun to know some faces and not feel so intimidated.

This is Tawni. She is trying to get used to her new surroundings as well. Its hard for her to go out and have to be on a leash at all times. How rude! She wants to go and lounge and play like she used to. But she is doing better. She just can't whine at the door and tell me she wants out. She hates the stairs. I have finally got her to come up them. She can see the hole through the stairs and it just freaks her out. So we have got her coming up ok now with out her leash on of course. But coming down she refuses to do it. But she is getting better.

That is Dave and mines bedroom window. The very top one. We are on the third floor!! No peeping toms for us!!
These are the stairs that we have to climb every day. I have found a very good exercise program. Carry a case of water up those stairs and you got your heart rate up and your butt and leg work out!!

That is our balcony at the very top! They are nice apt. But very temporary for Dave and I. Jacob and Jaylyn will probably stay in them when we move out. They may move to a 1 bedroom apt. But just think when you move at least it's coming down the stairs

Out to a Partay!!

On Friday night Dave went hunting with Jory the whole weekend. And Jaylyn and Jacob had some friends over for a dinner party. So what is a girl to do on a Friday night with nothing to do. GO to a party!! LOL Well the party was not in my age category, as in number wise, but in my heart I suppose. I really don't feel the age I really am. But this party was at some of my younger friends house!! So I did get an invite hahaha thanks to facebook. So my BFF love saying that!! Cheryl and I went to Jennie D and Rachel's place were the party was going to be at. It was a BIG party. When we left there had to have been over 200 kids come and gone in an hour and half! I loved the hip hop music!! So of course I have my camera and I have to take pic's. Haha it was fun to be there.

Happy 29th Anniversary

Today David and I have been married for 29 yrs. That seems like for ever but then it seems like yesterday!! David and I will celebrate it next weekend because David went out of town with Jory deer hunting with the bow. I know I know he should have been home with me, but I told him that I was secure with myself that we did not have to be together that day. I really felt that I did not want Jory by himself so far away for his hunt so I wanted David to go with him. And those boys had fun to. We will go to Lake Powell of course and just stay in the slip and boat out for rides and play in the water. Sounds silly but its really fun. I was really fortunate to have found my Mr. Wright! He is a wonderful man. He is kind to me, loves me with all my imperfections. I may forget alot of what happens in my day to day stuff, but I don't forget our wedding day! Going to the Temple, our reception, our honey moon. Those memories are so strong. Even how we got engaged. So I do look forward to many more years with him making more memories.

The Move!

Well its been 3 weeks since we have moved. It took us 5 days to move!! Wow you really don't realize how much stuff you really have. Its been almost 11 yrs since we have moved in this house and when we moved in we did not have as much of this stuff. And I really did some dejunking along the way. What we did is we got a acclimatize moving storage. They bring it to you, and when its full they will come and pick it up. I felt we needed a bigger one, but they stop at the size we got. We could have gotten two of them, but I said NO. I kept asking Dave are you sure this is all going to fit??? LOL well it almost fit. On a Thursday night we had Jory's friends Baldo and Lauren come to help. From the ward Mike Wearne and his 3 boys and they moved all the big furniture into the storage. Dave had in his mind how it was all going to fit. Well it had to be pulled out and start over again to make it fit.

We took our bedroom set to the apt. Put pretty much everything into storage. Now David a week before we were to move hurt his back by picking up a box. Who knows how he hurt it. Not a good time for the back to go out!! He did see the doctor put him on some muscle relaxers and I told him that he was not to move anything big! DID it work.....NOPE..well when I was around he would mind me. He ended up putting a brace on and tried his best to stay out of the heavy stuff.

That's Lauren on top of the shelves. I really can't do that. I'm a tad afraid of falling. Lauren and Baldo were such great help. Thank You!!

Our back patio was the next stop to the storage. But my table and chairs did not make it to the storage. I have them in the apt. It was to big.

This is David trying to rest his back. He is sooo exhausted. "But what happened" He used that ball allot through the move. It takes the pressure off the back. It really did help him quite a bit.

This part of the kitchen I did not like. The kitchen was my nightmare. On Saturday morning my good friend Liz Montes came to help. She packed all my dishes, pots and pan, and other stuff. It was so helpful. Later that day with Jessica Hatch I was able to go through my pantry and dejunk it as well and take what canned food I wanted to the apt. OK I really found out that I bought double stuff of food not knowing that I had it, because it was back deep in the pantry.

Thank goodness that Jory had Brittney to help him with his move of his room. Mr. Jory had 3 rooms of his stuff spread through out the house. He said for him it will be easy to pack. He had to eat his words. He had allot of stuff. He is staying with Baldo and Lauren until him and Brittney find an apt here soon. He was very lucky that he was able to put his belongings into Brittney's storage.
Here is the storage box we put everything in. Well not everything.
It's full!!! WOW I never thought we could fill that storage full. We did have to get two garages at the apt place where we live to put more and more boxes and Dave's quad and the little quad trailer that he pulls with the quad. And the camping trailer is at a storage place right by us. And we took the freezer to work as well as the tuff shed to and its contents that was in it. But the boat is at Lake Powell still and then when we are done boating there we will bring it home and put it with the camping trailer. We are spread all over! On a Monday night at 1:30 in the morning I was cleaning the house I was damp mopping the floor and I just opened up the hall closet by the front door, and just screamed at David 'ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!" Our jacket's, more shoes, other mics stuff was in there. How did we forget that!! I was just to plain tired to pack it up. I came the next day and packed it. Dave and I have never been so tired in our life's as we did this move. I'm truly amazed at David!! He is the man. He was being blessed so much with his back that I truly can't believe that he did all that he did. When I would think that I was getting tired and wanted a break I would look at him, and just say but look what he is doing! GOING! He truly inspired me. We have never been soooo sweaty in our lives. Actually David just was wet from head to toe with sweat every day that we moved. I did have to throw away some clothes. And we definitely need some new underwear!! Seriously. He did not stink of BO, but just sweat!! It happened to be a hot July to move in! 112 to 114 degree's. Just a little warm. We had some of the Elder Quarm Dan Whitmer and his son Daniel who just was so cute and very helpful. And Scott Turley, and Tim Smith from the High Priests. They had to take our bedroom set up 3 flights of stairs. In that wonderful heat! My thanks to those men! Jaylyn and Jacob are putting their couches and kitchen stuff in the apt. Then that way when we move again it won't be so much. And David did remind me that it will be down hill. Much easier I suppose.
We are very nice people that we even mowed the lawn before we left. And I really cleaned the house as well. It was important to us that we give this family a nice clean house to come to. Even though they may clean to what they want, but I know I did not leave it in a shamble for them.

And when you really think your done, your not. We had the quad and trailer and few more lawn stuff. WOW at this point we think we are done.

This is our last good bye to the house. Yes WE did cry. And why not. I loved this house. It has so many memories for us to hold. This was taken actually for Jaren so he knew we said good bye. But I must say that several times through out this move I have felt the savior give me piece that all will be ok. That's what has actually helped me along this journey. It will be all ok. No we don't know where we are going to live yet. WE do know that we are safe in an apt with Jaylyn and Jacob. As David has given this advise to so many people that when one door closes another will open. I do have faith that Heavenly Father will guide us to our new destination where he wants us to be. Our house on Beck were we lived for 11 yrs was where when the kids were small and played T-ball, had fun Halloween party's for David's b-day. This house on Minton was when the kids were teenagers. First dates, going to high school. Now our next home will be making new memories with our grown up children and our grand babies!! Yes its freaky, but what a fun journey it will be. We make it what we want. We have very good memories of our ward that has loved us with our family growing up as well. So now our journey begins with being outside of Tempe which we have been for 25yrs. Hello Gilbert or Mesa were ever our feet may land!

SuMmEr TiMe & Change

OK so where do I begin....I am trying to keep with up with all the changes that are happening with us and I have had a hard time on one hand in particular of writing. One was because I was trying to not let allot of people know. Not that we did not want to share but I did not want Jaren Phil to find out here on my blog. I really wanted to have the opportunity to talk with him in person and I was fortunate on Mothers Day with our phone calls to do so. And it was difficult to do it. Dave and I have decided to sell our house. This took place in talking back in February or March. He wants to have what I call it a "Man Cave" where he can work on his projects like reloading his gun shells, honey dues... good one huh, and other sorts of stuff. He would like the boat to be in a covered place as well as our quad. Living in a area that has a HOA you don't get to have some of that freedom of adding on an so forth. Well on April 2nd I came home from the gym that morning to find the stake in my yard. Not the for sale sign but the stake. I just literally freaked. I called David at work and said do YOU know what's in our front yard, and a sigh came and said yes I do. I was just shaking and crying. Talking is really one thing about wanting to sell your house but to see it go into action is another. I was pretty much a basket case all day. I had called a very close friend and just cried to her as well. Trying to calm my fears. Well the sign has been up and we now have our house sold. We are suppose to be moving out next week. We have lived in this house for almost 11 yrs. It was built bran new and we all remember the fun of watching it being built. We have lived here in Tempe for 25 yrs as well. In the same ward too. When we first moved here to Arizona in 1984 we had an apt just behind Home Depot. What used to be K-mart. Then rented a home just above 48th street and then bought our 1st home in AZ on Beck. Lived there for 10 or so years and now to this home. Change is sooo hard for our family. We like comfort. But as I have told Jaren change can be good. He is doing well as can be expected considering he is on his mission and will come home to the biggest change of all. A new home and area. But I believe he will have made that process so much easier then the rest of us. Look at the change he has had to do living in a different country for two years and speaking another language. As David and I have talked together with the process of all this going on and our fears that we have been feeling like what are we doing??? We don't have to sell, its not in a forecloser, no one is making us move BUT us. But as we take our steps toward this journey we have felt this comfort that all will be ok. That's what truly helps me with this process. WE don't have a new house to move into yet. AHHH that's another journey. LOOKING for one. This is a change, we will be moving into an apt with Jaylyn and Jacob from 2 to 4 months. LOL....They are moving from Coolidge and selling their house. Jacob is going to school up here in Gilbert and that will be closer for him. AND we will be living on the 3rd floor of the apt. This part just makes me laugh. All good. We will be helping Jay and Jacob out as well them us to. This will give Dave and I a chance to really look at what we want and not be sooo rushed into getting something. We have been looking in the area of Val Vista and Brown area. We will see what comes our way.

I'm very grateful for the fun memories our family has with this house. I know for each of our children it has been a difficult process of them of letting go of this home we all love so much. But as I told Janica this past weekend, we can take our memories and pack them with us and make new ones when we land on our feet again.

This is me celebrating a late birthday wish with the kids

Well now here is some BIG BIG change..... Announcing the engagement of Jory and Brittney!!! YA! they got engaged June 27th. We are so happy for the both of them. They have chosen November 7th to be married in the Salt Lake Temple. And then the following weekend to have a reception here in Az. We really love Brittney. She is just a sweet heart. And brings out the best in Jory. She is from Morgan Ut and is 1 of 6 girls in her family.

This was our adult trip to Lake Powell. We were doing some treasure hunting with Geo cashing. I hope I called that right. Its so fun. We found a couple of them that day. It was a great day.

Ok David must of had to much Mountain Dew that day. I bought him these little under shorts to wear under his swimsuits that don't have the mesh swim suit support. Well he took off his swim shorts don't really remember why and was showing them off!!

This is our group who went to Lake Powell. We went from June 17th - 21st. We have had this group going for quite some time now. We all have so so much fun. We sometimes forget we are adults!! We went to Antelope Point to have dinner that night. This trip the weather was cooler then normal. The water temp was only 70 degrees. And the air temp was not to much higher. We all did very little swimming. But none the less it was a great trip.

Now we did head back to Powell for the 4th of July weekend. AND boy did the water warm up!! It was like 78-80. My kind of swimming water. And the air temp was much warmer as well. Our friends Laci and Cheryl and their kids came with us. It was a first for them to go to Lake Powell.

So here are the girls!! Just getting ready to head out and do some tubing!!

I made David pull us really slow as to not freak Garrett out. He is only 3. He had a good time. Cheryl is his Nana.

This is Mr. Dave working really hard at work. This kind of work just makes you sweat soo bad. He is doing Southwall an old customer of ours.

Now Cam and Janica came in to town last weekend. Cam had an interview with Midwestern in Glendale Az. It is his first school that he has applied for and first interview as well. More will come. I did not want him to know how hot it got last weekend. But him and Jacob went and played tennis in the morning and ha found how hot it can get here. Thank goodness for pools. We went to eat dinner at Lucille's at the Tempe Market Place. Nice place to eat if you like B-Que.

Janica and I messing around at work before they left to drive back home to Utah. We had a great visit with them here.

Crazy Life

Its been so crazy lately that I have not had the time to post what I want. And if I don't do it quickly I will get a brain fart and then its all gone!! We have been to Lake Powell 3 times now. Its our favorite place to go. Maybe I should have my ashes spread there...HaHa..well its a thought. We were a few years ago camping and a family came up where we were camping and came by us to ask if it was OK to do fireworks we we said sure, and they also commented on that his wife had passed away the following year and that she wanted her ashes put on this one hill side. So the whole family was there. Nice... But here really soon I'm going to put some pic's up. The Wright's have allot of changes coming our way.....
