Kindness

On Sunday after church Dave and I had to go to Walgreen's and get his medicine filled. They told him that it would take just a few minutes to get it filled. It seemed that it was not to busy that day in the pharmacy. But I knew better so I told him that I would be back in a minute. So I just strolled along looking at different things and then I went over to the makeup part. I love to look at lipsticks, eye shadows and so on.....and as I was looking at the mascara's this women approaches me and really I don't remember what she said to me first but I recognized her from a previous conversation that I have had with her. She was telling me that she wanted to let me know how beautiful I looked and was saying very kind things to me. That she had been in a car accident 19 yrs ago and that she almost died. So she wants to be happy and give thanks that she is alive and that she tells other people nice things. Now I have been approached by her twice at the grocery store once in the parking lot and once in the store. Ha same store. So she must live close in the area. The other times she has approached me she said that I had the most beautiful hair. So curly and pretty and wished her hair was like mine. And the time before she commented on my hair as well but told me I had a beautiful smile. In some ways your are taken back a bit and thinking what does she want??? Money?? She is not asking for money or anything at all. I have heard her story three times and its the same. So truly she is walking up to random people and saying kind things to them. She feels that it's her duty for being saved by god. She has said that she never wants to be angry only a happy person. And while she is talking to you, you really feel that she is a happy person after you get over the fact that she is telling you nice things about yourself and you have no idea who she is and you might think that she is whacked! I am amazed at her courage to go to random people and stop them and have a conversation with them. How often do we go through our daily tasks and in our little world and maybe you see someone that you might like to give a compliment to for what ever reason you see, and get scared to have that contact and tell them. Well I'm one of those people that find it hard to get out of my comfort zone and do it. I may think of it but I don't act upon it. I feel privileged that she has chosen me three times to come up to me and say nice things to me. I should be a better example and try what she does.

Ya know, you're one of those people that can accept a compliment. That's probably why she talks to you all the time. Good for you for just listening to her each time and not getting frustrated or being it too big of a hurry. She needs to share her pain, while at the same time sharing some joy with those around her.
